Renewable Energy Sources
Why is renewable energy technology in every newspaper and magazine? Why is everybody searching for sources of renewable energy? Change is the name of the game. This change has to occur whether we like it or not. I am thinking of the way in which we consume energy. We cannot effort to rely on fossil fuel based energy that causes severe damage to our health and the world we are living in. We are in desperate need of renewable energy sources.
Numerous governments backed nuclear technology. This sector has attracted and still is attracting huge financial resources. However, we have seen by now that compared to fossil fuels nuclear power generates at least as many problems. We need to keep exploring other sources of renewable energy.
Renewable energy technology has come a long way in the last few years. We now can see various forms of clean and green energy. Solar energy is today the most developed but water, wind and geothermal energy are also catching up. Each of these renewable energy sources has their own advantages and challenges. However, one country alone cannot provide the solution to our energy crisis. Finding viable sources of renewable energy is an international problem that needs an international solution.
In the US the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), a faculty of the US Department of Energy (DOE) is conducting research and development in a number of different areas all related to renewable energy technology.
Investing in renewable energy sources has certainly become more fashionable in the recent past. The demand is growing quickly. It is perceived as one of the biggest investment opportunities. Because of this perception investments from Sir Richard Branson, GE and Wal-Mart have already started flowing in.
But for things to really change we all need to cooperate. The more ways we find to use these sources of renewable energy the sooner we can lower our fossil fuel consumption. There is already an abundance of renewable energy technology available. Why not upgrade your outdoor lighting system to one that uses solar energy. It is quite simple to implement a solar hot water system. Using renewable energy sources can be fun and certainly will make a difference.
We need to understand that this is our only option. Our fossil fuel resources are already running very low. Furthermore, we can no longer ignore the damage we have caused to our health and this planet.
Our economy and our society both depend on massive amounts of energy. But the energy cannot come at the expense of our healthy and safe living environment. Renewable energy sources provide clean energy that is not harmful to our environment.
We need to develop renewable energy technology if we want to take advantage of these sources of renewable energy. Let's cooperate! After all there is strength in numbers.
